Tirumala shrine opened for darshan at 8 pm

Tirupati/ Srikalahasthi: The doors of the famous shrine of Lord Venakt-eswara in Tirumala, which were closed at 10 am in view of lunar eclipse on Wednesday morning, were re-opened by the priests at 8 pm. Cleansing rituals including Suddhi, Punyaha-vachanam have been performed followed by Thomala seva in Ekantam. Pilgrims were been allowed for darshan after 9.30 pm and it continued till midnight. Meanwhile the Annapr-asdam distribution activity, which was suspended owing to the eclipse, commenced at the Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Annapr-asadam complex after 9.30 pm on Wednesday.  Pilgrims have been served Annap-rasadam from 9.30 pm.
 
Being the only temple open during lunar eclipse, Srikalahastheeswara swamy temple here witnessed heavy turnout of devotees on Wednesday.

The queue were full to their brim. The situation continued from early hours to late night on Wednesday. The priests of the temple performed abhishekam to the presiding deities Lord Srikalahastheeswara and Jnana Prasoonamba Devi at 6 pm.
