Hyderabad: The CCS police on Wednesday arrested a relative of Rajampet MLA Amarnath Reddy for allegedly cheating visa aspirants. The accused Sravan Reddy had taken lakhs from over 50 gullible victims promising them Malaysian job visas. However, he cheated them later. The 32-year-old accused was running a job consultancy in Panjagutta a few months back to lure the victims.

Police officials said that Mr Reddy had collected Rs 2 lakh from each of the victims promising them a job in Malaysia. He gave them job descriptions and a date when they can come and collect their visa. However, the accused went absconding and did not return the money of the victims.

As the victims approached the police, CCS police took up the case and started an investigation after booking a case under IPC Section 420 for cheating.

Sources said that Sravan had gone to Malaysia and had tried to open his own company there with the money he collected from job aspirants. He had also planned to employ them in the same company. However, his plans did not work out, and he had to return from there.
