Nellore: Union minister for urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu wielded the broom for a cleansing act during the Swachh Bharat programme here on Sunday. The minister along with MLAs, corporators and other leaders of the TD-BJP combine got into the cleansing act at the Gandhi statue circle in city as early as 7 am.

Speaking to media persons at Nellore, Mr Naidu said that it was of utmost importance to one and all to ensure not only their homes but their locality, their village-town-city and the nation are kept clean for the overall hygiene of the people of the country.

The union minister called upon the people of Nellore to set aside at least a couple of hours in a day and contribute to Swachh Bharat aimed at ensuring a clean India. Municipal administration minister, Dr P. Narayana, TD MLAs, Nellore mayor Abdul Azeez, BJP leaders and civic officials took part in the  Swachh Bharat programme.
