Ongole: The APSPDCL officials in Prakasam are ready to introduce 24x7 power supply from October 2, if the government directs to implement the scheme for supplying uninterrupted power to the domestic consumers.
 
At present officials are to meet increased demand for power in the district. Due to adverse seasonal conditions, the consumers are using air-conditioners as a result the power consumption is increasing.
 
Generally during this season the demand would be seven million units (MU) per day, but the demand hiked to 8.5 MU per day due to adverse seasonal conditions. In spite of it, the APSPDCL is able to supply power to the domestic consumers besides seven hour power supply to agriculture motor pump sets in rural areas.
 
APSPDCL superintendeing  engineer A. Jayakumar said, “Though the demand for power has gone up, we could be able to meet the demand. There are no power cuts for the last 45-days in the district. If 24x7 is introduced, the power consumption may go up by 5 to 10 pc. We are sure to meet the demand. Sometimes, pow-er consumption is touching 9 MU per day, in spite of it, we are supplying uninterrupted power supply.”
