Hyderabad: In a dreadful incident of domestic violence, a man, along with his father, cut off his wife’s nose and ears.

The accused, Motapothula Srinu, a resident of Golla Buddaram village of Bhupalpally mandal, Warangal district, along with his father Komuraiah, cut off the nose and ears of his wife Rajitha, during  the early hours of Tuesday as they suspected her of adultery. She was badly thrashed before they cut off her nose and ears.

Since their marriage, Srinu and Rajitha (Srinu’s second wife, the first had left him) had an unhappy relationship. Things had taken a turn for the worse when Srinu’s younger brother committed suicide in 2013. Ever since, the couple started fighting about the incident as Srinu suspected that his wife was being unfaithful. The victim, however, denied having any such relationship.

The attack on Rajitha took place in the night, when an storytelling performance (Burra katha) was being conducted by the villagers.

Both Srinu and his father beat up Rajitha before they tied her up and cut off her nose and ears. Rajitha managed to run out of the house, bleeding profusely from her nose and ears, screaming for help.

It drew the attention of the neighbours, but Srinu and his father threatened them. She was later sent to MGM for treatment. According to sources her conditioned was critical.

CI Raghunadan said that they have registered a case and arrested Srinu. A manhunt has also been launched to find  the absconding relatives and Srinu’s father Komuraiah.
