Bukkarayasamudram (Anantapur): In a brutal incident, a woman was strangled to death at Rajivnagar Colony in Bukkarayasamudram of Anantapur district on Monday. The victim was identified as Fakhrubi, 35, a widow, of the same colony.

According to police, Fakhrubi’s husband died six years ago and has two sons and entered into flesh trade to eke out a living. As her behaviour was creating disputes among families in the colony, one Bestha Suresh, Fakhrubi’s neighbour, warned her to mend her ways.

Enraged over this, she got him attacked with the help of some other persons. Suresh, who was desperate to take revenge, sent his wife to her sister's house and invited Fakhrubi to his house. He, along with his friend Avula Nagendra, 22, strangled her to death under the influence of alcohol.

To wipe out evidence, they took the body on motorcycle to dispose it off in the midnight. In the mean time, they accidentally fell from the motorcycle when they tried to overtake the vehicle of police who were on a patrol to inspect vehicles transporting sand.

SI Mohan Kumar Goud grew suspicious as both the friends tried to escape from the spot as soon as they fell from the bike. On interrogation, they agreed to have committed the offence. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
