Nizamabad: Despite directions by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to demolish illegal constructions and improve water supply to the people, there has been no significant improvement in the functioning of the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation. This can be attributed to the lack of a full-time commissioner to the civic body. The post has been lying vacant since long and presently, additional municipal commissioner K.A. Manga Tayaru is discharging duties as the additional charge.

Nizamabad Municipal Corporation is the third biggest city in Telangana after Hyderabad and Warangal. The city has 5 lakh population and 50 municipal divisions. Akula Sujatha of the TRS and Fayeem of MIM are serving as the mayor and deputy mayor. During his visit to Nizamabad a month ago, the chief minsiter directed officials to identify all illegal constructions and demolish them.
