Dasara off to a grand start, glorious as ever

Mysore: The Mysore Dasara, the 10-day cultural extravaganza opened on Thursday, with noted litterateur Girish Karnad, inaugurating it atop Chamundi Hills, in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. When Dr Karnad, performed a puja to Goddess Chamundeswari, he was booed by BJP activists who called him an atheist.

Unfazed, the Jnanpith awardee went on to attack the Union’s government’s move to  introduce astrology as a science just when ISRO had launched the Mars orbiter. His anti-superstition stance was endorsed by the CM.
