Telugu Desam faces anti incumbency wave: Mithun Reddy

Tirupati: While the leaders and cadres of the Telugu Desam celebrated the occasion of the TD-led government completing 100 days in office in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress MP Peddireddi Mithun Reddy noted that it definitely was not the time for celebrations especially when the people of Chittoor were deprived of drinking water and were up in arms owing to the acute water crisis in close to 10 constituencies in the district.

The young MP said that not only the people of the state but the leaders and cadres of the TD were discontent with the 100-day rule of Mr Naidu. Mr Mithun Reddy noted that while the question of anti-incumbency against any elected government arises only in the fifth year ahead of the general elections, but anti-incumbency has already begun in case of the TD led government which has just completed 100 days in office, which according to him is the only achievement of the government. The YSRC MP felt that there was a complete disconnection between the government-administrative machinery-and the people similar to how it was during the days of N. Kiran Kumar Reddy-led government at the helm of affairs in the united state of Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Mithun Reddy saw no difference at all in the manner in which Kiran Reddy governed the state then and the 100-days rule of Naidu-led government at present. The Rajampeta MP pointed out that the MLAs of the ruling party have not even been able to tour freely across their constituencies in the drought-hit Chittoor district fearing serious backlash from the public on account of the failure of the state government in addressing the drought situation back here. Mr. Mithun Reddy felt that minus the empty promises, grand proposals and visionary statements made by the Chief Minister in the last 100 days, there has been no concrete effort on the part of the state government to address the critical issues on the face of the people.
