Hyderabad: Opening batsman T. Suman came out smashing as IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders survived a scare by a Hyderabad Cricket Association XI in their practice match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on Monday.

Suman slammed 74 in just 35 balls (9x4, 4x6) as the city side fell 11 runs short of KKR’s 178 for 6 in a Twenty20 warm-up match in the build-up to the Champions League.

Earlier, Jacques Kallis hit 58, Ryan Ten Doeschate made 44 and Andre Russel belted an unbeaten 42 in 21 balls to take KKR to a strong total.
