UDA gets ready for capital duty

Officials have prepared development proposals

Vijayawada: It is clear that VGTM-UDA officials are fully aware of the enormous responsibility of developing the state capital that they have to shoulder from now on. As part of the process, VGTM-UDA vice-chairperson P. Ushakumari will discuss the various development proposals put forth by the UDA with the state government on Tuesday.The UDA authorities have prepared development proposals to the tune of Rs1,400 crore.
 
VGTM chairman V. Srinivasa Reddy told this newspaper that among the proposals submitted is the development of internal roads at a cost of Rs381 crore in both Krishna and Guntur districts. Mr Reddy said that he bring up the proposal before Union minister of urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu and seek sanction of necessary funds.
 
Ms Ushakumari is likely to discuss the development proposals and land conversions in a meeting scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
It may be noted that the UDA had invited tenders for preparing a detailed project report for the Metro rail project in UDA limits. As many as 16 companies are in the race and the tenders are likely to be finalised with in a week.
In addition, the UDA authorities have to complete several projects pending since long.
