Hyderabad: Film director and former Union minister Dasari Narayana Rao has sought gunmen from the Andhra Pradesh Police.

In the recent security review by intelligence agencies, his gunmen were removed. The agency claimed that Mr Rao did not face a threat. AP home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said, “At least five MLAs have come to me, asking for more personal security officers. I have forwarded their applications to security review committee. The committee will sit on August 27 to review the threats again. I have no role in deciding who will get security covers and who won’t. Intelligence agencies decide such things scientifically, based on threat perception.”

He said, “Among the VIPs Dr Dasari Narayana Rao approached me asking for the gunmen. His case will also be considered by the committee.” The home minister also said the seven mandals added to the Godavari districts from Khammam will get a deputy superintendent of police and revenue divisional officer.
