CM is able to retain his post only because of a weak Congress high command, claims Lingayat strongman

Bellary: Former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa was at his scathing best while kicking off his campaign for the Bellary (ST) bypoll on Friday, calling Chief Minister Siddaramaiah a “dictator,” who had gained his post by “chance” and claiming that he was able to keep it only because of a “weak high command.” Accusing Mr Siddaramaiah of engineering the defeat of KPCC chief, Dr G Parameshwar in the 2013 assembly elections so he could become Chief Minister, he alleged , “Siddaramaiah sent his entire battalion to conspire against Parameshwar and ensured his defeat from Koratagere. Otherwise, he would not have become CM.”
He also claimed that it was after much pressure from within the party, that the Chief Minister reluctantly nominated Dr Parameshwar to the legislative council. “And now, there is again huge pressure on him to make Dr Parameshwar, deputy Chief Minister, but he is not ready to do so. This clearly shows he has no respect for the sentiments of the Dalits,” he charged, contending that the three assembly by-elections had given the people the opportunity to teach the CM a lesson.
“The results will not make any impact on the Congress government. But it is an opportunity to teach a lesson to Siddaramaiah who has become a dictator and treats opposition parties with little respect. I appeal to you to defeat Congress candidates in the byelections so he can mend his ways,” he told the people .
Wondering why the Chief Minister was not coming clean on the 1600 letters of recommendation he is said to have written to members of the Karnataka Pubic Service Commission (KPSC), he insisted he had no moral right to continue in office in the circumstances." He should have plugged the loopholes in KPSC. Instead he scrapped the appointments which reeks of a conspiracy to protect his interests,” he said.
