Broad’s Helmet unsafe, says ex-england opener
Dennis Amiss feels that using different helmet from others was the cause of injury

Mumbai : England all-rounder Stuart Broad, who received a nasty blow to his nose, has been using a different helmet from the others, which was the cause of the injury according to former England opener Dennis Amiss, who is considered to be the pioneer of sporting a helmet in the game. On the third day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Broad suffered a fractured nose after being struck by a bouncer from Varun Aaron.
Commenting on the injury, Amiss said, “I am not sure what to make of the helmet Broad was using but it looked a little different from the more traditional ones. The ball should not pass through between the peak and the grill and I believe there are new safeguards to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.”“I started wearing helmet in World Series in 1977/78. I thought batsmen needed helmets after I was hit once or twice on the head prior to WSC. Kerry Packer welcomed the innovation.”
