Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra has apparently got a stay order from court on the biopic of her former manager Prakash Jaju. Priyanka and Prakash had parted ways following to financial disputes and the latter’s biopic was slated to be a tell-all of the times when he was dealing with her professional affairs.

Priyanka’s former boyfriend Aseem Merchant is supposed to produce the biopic. However, with the court deciding in her favour, it remains to be seen whether the film sees the light of day.

“Priyanka had been upset ever since the news came out. Some common friends of Priyanka and Aseem had tried to dissuade Aseem from making the film, but Aseem had refused to budge,” says a close source, adding, “Left with no alternative, Priyanka had sent a legal notice to Aseem Merchant to take back all the publicity made in her name at the earliest.”

Responding to Priyanka’s notice, Aseem had stated to the media: “I will not stop making this biopic. But we will shoot each incident very carefully and whatever will be presented will be authentic.”
Sources said that following the court order staying the film, Aseem is quite disheartened. “Now, if at all he makes the biopic, he will not be able to use Priyanka’s name at all. He will have to give a disclaimer: ‘The characters shown in the film are fictitious. They have no resemblances with anyone dead or alive’.”

When contacted, Aseem says, “I have not received any court order. However, I had received a notice and we had replied to that notice some two months back. This buzz is absolutely false. We are preparing to go ahead with the biopic which is the life story of Prakash Jaju.”

Prakash, meanwhile, says, “Currently, I am in London. I cannot state anything on the court order. I have sold the rights of the story to the producers for '5 crore and received '2.5 crore as the initial amount. I will be taking the rest of the amount from them.”
