Selfies by Russian soldier Alexander Sotkin appear to come from Ukraine.

London:  A Russian soldier putting up his ‘selfies’ on Instagram may have blown the lid off the long-denied Russian Army presence in Ukraine. Media reports said that Alexander Sotkin, 24, had been posting pictures of himself in various combat settings.

But he appeared to have activated a locator map that showed where the images were taken: Inside eastern Ukraine. A series of earlier images showed Sotkin’s location to be the village of Voloshino in southern Russia, where his unit appears to be based. Two pictures posted on July 5 and 6 are geotagged 10 km  away, across the border in Ukraine.
