Khammam: Telugu Desam Party is making sure that its goal of capturing the Khammam ZP chairperson and vice-chairperson’s posts in the election to be held on August 7 is a success. To achieve this, the party bosses have shifted 19 ZPTCs from NTR Trust Bhavan in Hyderabad to a secret camp in Uttarandhra so that they are not poached by other parties. The ZPTCs would be brought to Khammam on the night of August 6. Sources said that they were lodged in a resort near Vizag.

TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu had given clear instructions to senior leaders, former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, former MP Nama Nageswara Rao and MLC Potla Nageswara Rao to hoist the party flag on the zilla parishad office.

Though the trio has left the decision of selecting the candidate for the ZP chief’s post to the TD chief, the three leaders have been making efforts to ensure their choice bags the post, which is reserved for SC women.

While Mr Tummala prefers Gadipalli Kavita, Mr Nama is keen on Thokala Lata and Mr Potla is rooting for Kovela Syamala. As per present strength of ZPTCs, the TDP needs one more vote to win the polls comfortably.

However, the Congress, YSR Congress and CPM are looking for chinks in the TD armour so that they can move in and bag the post. The TD has put its hope on CPI(ML) New Democracy’s stand as it can win if the ND boycotts the election.
