Telugu Desam set to win Zilla Parishad chief post in Khammam

Elections were held to 44 ZPTCs in the district and TD won 22 seats

Khammam: Decks have been cleared for the election of Khammam zilla parishad chairman and vice-chairman posts and 39 MPP chairmen and vice-chairmen posts with the High Court order directing the State Election Commission to conduct the election, in turn, which asked the collector of Khammam to conduct election on August 6 and 7.

Telugu Desam, which won in 19 ZPTCs has a clear chance to get the zilla parishad chairman post due to New Democracy’ s stand to keep a distance to the election. Elections were held to 44 ZPTCs in the district and TD won 22 seats followed by YSRC six and Congress 11 seats.

CPI-M obtained two and CPI (New Democracy) ML won three seats. But, seven mandals such as Bhadrachalam, Burgumpahad, VR Puram, Kunavaram, Chintoor, Kunavaram and Kukkunoor have been transferred to Andhra Pradesh for facilitating to construct Polavaram Project.

TD, which won three ZPTCs such as Kunavaram, Bhadrachalam and VR Puram and YSRC’s Burgumpahad and Chintoor have been given to AP.

But, the mandal parishad elections to these seven mandals would be conducted by East and West Godavari collectors.
