Tamil Nadu Chief Minister gives state roads big push with Rs 2,325 crore

16 new projects including construction of roads, bridges and subways are announced

Chennai: In a major impetus to improving the road infrastructure right across the state, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa announced various projects to the tune of Rs 2,325.48 crore.
 
Making a statement in the Assembly on Friday, she said 16 new projects that included construction of roads, bridges and subways were aimed at upgrading transport facilities. These projects would pave way for the country’s economic growth.
 
She also announced that 250 km of roads coming under the State Highways department would be improved in the expanded Chennai Corporation limits at a cost of  Rs 1,033 crore. “In the first phase, Rs 250 crore worth works will be taken up this year,” Ms Jayalalithaa informed.
