Mysore: A 22-year-old mentally challenged rape survivor was made to wait for hours after the crime in a semi-nude condition for medical tests at a hospital in Karnataka.

The victim was raped by her neighbour in Varuna in Mysore district, which also is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's constituency.

Unaware of what exactly happened to her, the girl was scared to go through the medical tests and was left on the hospital bed for hours.

Police have nabbed the culprit, however, the hospital is been questioned on the treatment meted out to the girl.

The incident has once again raised questions over the treatment, both medical and physiological given to rape victims.

Earlier on July 2, a six-year-old girl was raped by a skating instructor in one of Bangalore’s high-profile school.

The state authorities, including the Chief Minister have been ridiculed for their insensitive approach to the victim.

When asked on the child's rape case by a journalist on Tuesday, he said, "Is this the only news? Is there no other news?"
