BSF foils infiltration bid along IB in Kathua, intruder killed

Jammu: BSF foiled an infiltration bid and killed an intruder along the International Border (IB) in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A BSF officer on Tuesday said that troops guarding the borderline picked up movement of a group of infiltrators close to zeroline along IB in Karol Matrayan forward belt in Hiranagar sector last night.

Jawans of the 68 Battalion of BSF challenged and opened fire on the infiltrators, killing one of them on the spot, he said, adding the other intruders fled to the Pakistani side.

BSF troops launched a search operation and recovered body of an unarmed intruder, he said, adding nothing incriminating was recovered from him.

This is the second infiltration attempt along the IB in less than a week. On Thursday night, the BSF had thwarted an intrusion bid in Suchetgarh sector of Jammu district.
