Khammam: Most of the people of the seven mandals that went to AP are  happy to see the end of the row over their residential status.

While political parties took differing positions  on the transfer of the mandals,  the people welcomed the Centre’s decision. The farmers whose lands were acquired under the Polavaram Project are hoping to get a better  compensation and  rehabilitation package for  their land.

B. Venkateswara Rao, TD leader in Rudraokata in Veleirpad mandal said that the people of these mandals never wanted an uncertain fate.  “We asked the government to end their dilemma  by deciding in favour of our state. We will  adjust with the development and fight for a good package from the Centre for those affected by it,” he added.

The government has paid compensation to a majority of the farmers and is in the process of identifying the owners of khasa lands and assigned lands.
