More rains predicted in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad and many other districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Monday evening, bringing down the maximum temperatures considerably.

Kurnool recorded the maximum rainfall of 76 mm, followed by Nalgonda that recorded 67 mm. Ongole got 44 mm rain, Bapatla 47 mm, Vijayawada 40 mm and Hyderabad received 11mm of rain till 8.30 pm.  

In Hyderabad, rains threw normal life out of gear. While many drains were overflowing, vehicular traffic  came a standstill at several places. Traffic jams were seen at Punjagutta, Nampally, Red Hills, East-West Marredpally, RTC crossroads, Secunderabad station, Madhapur, Dilsukhnagar, Tarnaka and Uppal.

Vehicles moving in and out of the airport, ferrying passengers, faced a lot of inconvenience. Power was disconnected at many places. In Vijayawada, heavy rains uprooted a tree, which fell on an autorickshaw killing one person in Madhuranagar.

The IMD has predicted more rains a low-pressure area over North-west and adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal around July 11, which may subsequently increase rainfall  over peninsular and central India.
