Mumbai: A woman in her 30's was allegedly beaten up by three neighbours and one of their wives at Camurlim village, 20km north of Panaji over a property dispute on Tuesday.

The woman claims she was beaten up with sticks, stripped and chilli and turmeric powder were stuffed in her private parts by the three. When she went to lodge a complain she was refused by Vithu Naik, assistant sub-inspector but later recorded it as a non-cognisable offence. The police suspended Naik five days later, after the victim contacted a women's NGO and an FIR was then registered.

Several senior police officers of Goa were issued notice on Tuesday by the state Human Rights Commission for ignoring the complaint of a woman who claimed three people beat her up and put chilli powder into her private parts.

The police suspended Naik five days later, after the victim contacted a women's NGO and an FIR was then registered.

All the three people involved in the attack were subsequently arrested.
