"My way is the road less travelled" is a famous dialogue by Rajnikanth from his movie, 'Padayappa'. He gained a strong foothold and set high standards in the industry. Let's take a look at his transformation from a bus conductor to a mega-star.
He fell in love with Latha Rangachari who visited the actor to interview him for a college project. The two married in 1981. A doting fan, Latha has not missed out a single first show of his movies till date.
He went ahead to Madras Film Institute to pursue his career. During one of his stage performances, he was noticed by Tamil film director K. Balachander and rest we know is history.
Sivaji Rao Gaekwad (Rajnikanth) worked as a bus conductor for Karnataka State Transport Corporation. When his friend, Raj Bahadur encouraged him to take up acting, his family did not support his decision.

Tales of his simplicity are legendary. The actor would take spiritual trips and visit Himalayas to unwind himself.
The super star is inclined towards spirituality. He is ardent devotee of Raghavendra Swamy. His regular schedule includes waking up early in the morning and meditating.
He has always stayed away from politics. His fans introduced Desiya Dravadar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam party and wanted the actor to lead it.
The megastar has ruled the cinema industry with his heroic looks, mind-blowing dialogues, daredevil stunts and incredible dance movements. He never died on-screen as the directors didn't want to upset his fans.
He ventured into screenplay writing and wrote 'Valli'. But when the film was not received well by the audience, he paid the losses to the distributors. He is one of the highest paid actors in the country today.
After playing several negative roles and characters with grey shades, his first positive role was in S P Muthuraman's Bhuvana, 'Oru Kelvikkuri'. He has also collaborated with Kamal Hassan over dozen of films.
