Visakhapatnam: Nearly a week after the delayed onset of the monsoon, many parts of Telangana and AP are reeling under heatwave conditions.

It feels like peak summer in Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur in AP and Khammam, Medak and Nalgonda in Telangana. Things are so bad that schools in Guntur have been closed for two days.

The IMD has said that heatwave conditions would continue for another 48 hours. Experts said that the late monsoon and shifting of moisture from the Arabian Sea stream to western and northern parts of the country due to the Nanauk cyclone had led to dry conditions.
