Chandrababu Naidu tells staff to ensure power to Vizag steel
CM asked to set up Medical, Engineering and professional collages by the steel plant
Hyderabad: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asked officials to ensure power and water supply to Vizag Steel Plant as per its requirement. Vizag Steel chairman P. Madhusudan and Vizag district TD MLAs met the CM at his Camp Office on Friday. He explained the expansion programmes of VSP and said that the plant was facing problems due to shortage of power and water.
Madhusudan said that the Vizag steel plant is producing 3 million tonnes of steel and also completed the expansion works. He said that the plant will produce 6.3 million tonnes of steel very soon. He said that they will take up modernization of steel plant works with the cost of Rs 5 thousand crore in coming three years and the production capacity will reach to 7.3 million tonnes by 2016-17. He said that they have asked the consultancy to see the possibilities of further expansion of 5 million tonnes capacity. He expressed the hope by 2020 that the steel plant production capacity will reach to 11 million tonnes and added due to this Rs 20 thousand crore investments will come.
Chief Minister Chandrababu expressing anguish over frequent accidents in the steel plant and deaths of workers he asked the Chairman to take up action to see not occur such incidents in future.
