Mumbai: An interesting survey reveals a startling truth about Mumbai, a city often touted as the safest for women. Mumbaikars gave a mixed response to a volley of questions on women safety, making it clear that thou Mumbai is a lot safer than many other cities including Delhi, a lot still needs to be done.

3 cases of rapes in less than a month in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh shook the country and led women and other organisations take streets for anti- rape protests. The teenage cousins who went out to use a loo never saw the light of another dawn. They were found hanging from a tree.

A 32 year-old was allegedly held captive was also gangraped by three men. 

A 16 year-old left for her relatives place and was taken to a room and raped before she even reached their place.

Almost a year ago a 22-year-old photojournalist was gangraped by 5 persons when she had gone to the deserted Shakti Mills compound in South Mumbai.

With Uttar Pradesh becoming the ‘crime’ Pradesh of our country and rapes becoming a non-negligible blot on our society the question arises that is Mumbai the safest city in India?
