Hyderabad: With the onset of monsoon the threat of seasonal diseases in rural areas is very high. Malaria, chikungunya, diarrhea, typhoid, hepatitis, unexplained fevers and other diseases are reported in large numbers.

Seasonal diseases have been a major bone of contention for public health centres because if they are not diagnosed properly there then the patients are referred to district hospitals.

Deputy chief minister and health minister Dr. T Rajaiah has given this prime importance. While inspecting health centres in Nalgonda, he said, “We want to ensure medicines are delivered at people’s doorstep. Officials are going to come up with a solution to this. The trust deficit between doctors and patients is very high due to which people in rural areas flock to cities. We need to ensure that capable doctors are posted in the rural areas.”

Mr Rajaiah also inspected the Bibinagar NIMS building and lamented that even after nine years and spending Rs 72 crore the facility was not ready to be used.
