Thiruvananthapuram: A three-year-old child and his father were attacked by miscreants at their residence at Neyyatinkara early on Saturday.

The injured Biju, 35, a labourer, suffered fractures on his hands and legs while his son Abin suffered fracture on his right leg.

The Neyyatinkara police registered a case against three identifiable men in connection with the incident. The attack took place after Biju tried to solve a family dispute involving his sister, police said.

Three men entered Biju’s house, BS Bhavan of Pongil, Venpakal, around 1.30 a.m. on Saturday when the family members were fast asleep.

The attackers climbed up the compound wall and broke open the lock of the gate  before entering the house and attacked Biju with an iron rod and wooden logs. When the family woke up and started crying, one of the attackers broke the child’s leg with the  iron rod as a warning to Biju’s wife Sajimol.

They also hit Biju on his head and torso and fled the spot.

The injured were admitted to the Medical College Hospital. Police have launched a search for the suspects and recovered the tools used for the attack.
