Music director Chakri hits a century
One of the top music directors of Telugu cinema has completed 100 films as music director
Hyderabad: Chakri, one of the top music directors of Telugu cinema has completed 100 films as music director. Kalyan Ram’s Sher will be Chakri’s 100th film project.
He started his career in 2000 with Bachi and has not looked back since. “It’s a wonderful feeling but still I have to do a lot and I like to experiment,” says Chakri. Talking about the young musicians in the industry he says, “There is a lot of talent around but young composers need to concentrate on making quality music,” he says.
Chakri himself has four to five films in hand at present.
He used be called the Telugu Bappi Lahiri, because of a similar build. However, he has never met the music director.
“Whenever I’ve visited Mumbai or Goa, at the airport, people have come up to me and wished me as Bappi Da. I have always kept quiet not wanting to disappoint them,” laughs Chakri.
