THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Unidentified miscreants attacked  Kollam MP N. K. Premachandran’s house at Thevally in Kollam on Friday night. Since Mr Premachandran and his family are away in Delhi, the damage was first noticed on Saturday morning by the  newspaper vendor who saw the gate of the house ‘Maheshwari’ lying open and the window panes smashed. He immediately alerted Mr Premachandran over phone.  Local people told police that a group of 10 persons had come to the spot  on Friday night and  pelted stones at the house.  Kollam Assistant Commissioner K. Lalji and his team reached the spot and started investigations.

Some posters were also pasted on the walls outside the house with letters written in red ink.

A poster read: “History will not forgive Premachandran, who sides with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who is embroiled neck-deep in corruption. There is no pardon for Premachandran who has betrayed us.”
Finger print experts examined the site. Mr Premachandan and his family, who had  gone to  Delhi a few days ago  for his swearing-in ceremony, will  return to Kollam on Tuesday  to attend the RSP re-organisation meeting. He had defeated CPM politburo member and Kundara MLA M. A. Baby in the polls.

RSP state secretary A.A. Azeez and  Labour Minister and RSP (B) leader Shibu Baby John visited the house and urged the government to take action against the culprits.
