Hyderabad: V. Sridhar, the financial controller of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, has been suspended by director Dr L. Narendranath.

His suspension comes after a probe unearthed his role in irregularities and mismanagement of funds.

The audits of the accounts had not been done properly and the executive committee found that the financial controller was not maintaining the department effectively.

A senior officer said, “An inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities involving former director Dr Dharma Rakshak was being carried out. During that inquiry, it was found that the financial controller had not discharged his duties in accordance to his service contract with the government. This questionable style of functioning was then investigated.”

A report had been submitted to current director Dr L. Narendranath. The report recommended suspension of Mr Sridhar.

However, other officers in the department claim that Mr Sridhar is paying the price of being close to the former director.

An officer said, “There is no problem with the accounts of the department. There are only three people working in the finance department and they have been here since the last four years. The finance department did not furnish the present director with required details, hence a case has been made out against Mr Sridhar.”
