Mumbai: Ankita Sharma, who plays Laila in Rangrasiya, is back on the show to create havoc in the lives of Rudra and Paro. The actress admits that after playing positive characters, taking up the role of Laila was a big risk, but she went for it anyway.

She says, “I did think about whether my fans would accept me in a negative character or not. I was scared of the initial reaction, but then I thought to myself, that rona-dhona bahut ho gaya (enough of crying). And now my mother likes my new avatar too! She tells me that at least my eyes won’t be damaged due to glycerine like they used to, when I played Miss goody two-shoes. Besides, I get to sport different looks too — I love wearing lehengas on screen.”

The actress has been giving her co-star Ashish Sharma tips for Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, as he is participating in the upcoming season. While she may not get to dance on Jhalak, Ankita will be seen shaking a leg in Rangrasiya. Speaking about it, she says, “We haven’t shot the sequence yet, just the promo for now. We don’t get time to rehearse so I don’t know how it will turn out.”

While dance is her forte, adapting to different languages clearly isn’t. “We have to speak Rajasthani words with the right accent. We have a language teacher but many times I forget and say ‘tera’ instead of ‘thara’ and things like that,” says Ankita.

Speaking about the friends she has made in the industry the actress says, “It’s been about four years since I shifted to Mumbai and I haven’t made too many friends. Divya Bhatnagar and Pavitra Punia are the only two actresses I’m close to.”
