Hyderabad: Asserting that the Congress would get less than 30 Assembly seats in Telangana, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday predicted that his party would form the government with absolute majority in Telangana and YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.

Asking partymen not to project him as the Chief Minister, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao said that the TRS Legislature Party would take a decision regarding this after the poll results.

Backing the Congress’ Rahul Gandhi as prime minister, the TRS chief asserted that he had high regards for Congress president Sonia Gandhi for granting statehood to Telangana and his first choice would be a Congress-led UPA at the Centre to extend support and if it failed to get majority, he would back a secular Third Front but not a Modi-led NDA.

“The TRS will get absolute majority and form the government on its own. We may get up to 90 seats. We did not approach any party and there is no need to approach them. We are not in need at all. There is no doubt,” he remarked.

Stating that TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu, was a “gone case in both Telangana and Seemandhra”, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao described him as the proverbial “dhobi ka kutta, na ghar ka na ghat ka (washerman’s dog running between home and the washing place)”.

During the party general body meeting, meeting at Telangana Bhavan, TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao gave post-poll tips, steps to be taken during counting of local bodies, Assembly and Lok Sabha votes and other issues to his partymen.

“Hundred per cent Chandrababu Naidu will never be able to form the government in Seemandhra. He is a gone case, take it from me. Naidu has lost in Telangana and Seemandhra. I believe he has gone to Singapore. I don’t know what he will do in the future,” he chuckled.

About the Seemandhra poll results, he said, “Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to form the government in Seemandhra. That’s beyond doubt. 101 per cent Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to beat the drum. He will win by 100 plus seats, not below 100.”

Asked how many Lok Sabha seats TRS would win out of 17, Mr Rao said the party would bag a majority of them. He also claimed that the party would also win majority of seats in South Telangana besides a good number in the Twin Cities, Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda and would open its open account in Khammam, winning at least one seat, with an edge in two other places.

To a query, he said his government would maintain cordial ties with the neighbouring new state of Andhra Pradesh and all neighbouring states.
“He (Jagan) is going to become CM of Andhra state which is my neighbouring state. It is a Telugu speaking state. Here I am going to form the government. In the interest of Telugu people we will work together on certain issues. Why not? He is not an untouchable.”
