New Delhi:N. Srinivasan’s bete noir Lalit Modi was quick to react to the Supreme Court’s bid to keep the ongoing probe into betting and match-fixing in the IPL in house. “Good to see the honourable Supreme Court taking the right direction by appointing Justice Mudgal to go forward and finish the investigation,” he tweeted, soon after the court said that it also wanted official agencies to join the Mudgal Committee in probing allegations of spotfixing and betting in the IPL. It asked the former judge to draw up a list of investigating agencies that he was likely to need assistance from.

The ruling by Justices A.K. Patnaik and F.M. Ibrahim Kalifullah came after the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar, the complainant in the case, had raised objections to the BCCI panel during the arguments on Tuesday.

The Mudgal Committee was set up last October to probe allegations around IPL 6. It submitted a report in February that included a sealed envelope  to be seen only by the judges with the names of 13 people whom, Justice Mudgal said, should be further investigated. That probe is what the court has asked its three man panel to take up now. The other members of the Mudgal Committee are additional solicitor general L. Nageswara Rao and Assam Cricket official Niloy Dutta.
