Mysore: With the infighting in the Mandya Congress said to have taken a toll on the party's prospects in the constituency these Lok Sabha polls, housing minister, Ambareesh  may find himself unpopular with the party high command should its sitting MP Ramya lose.

AICC appointed observer for Mandya parliamentary constituency, Mr. Sathyan has submitted a report on  the internal rift in the Mandya Congress and its effect on the polling to the high command. While state intelligence reports say the Congress could lose Mandya , Central intelligence reports give Ramya a slender winning margin of 15,000 to 20,000 votes.

The Congress leadership, which had excused Mr. Ambareesh post the assembly polls and given him the important housing portfolio although it  lost a golden opportunity to capture Mandya  from the JD(S)  due to his ego clashes with former Chief Minister, S M. Krishna, it may not let him go scot-free this time. More so as he has contributed to its defeat in at least two constituencies of Srirangapatna and Melkote, by insisting on the party fielding 'weak' candidates of his choice.

A war of words has begun  between the two  factions, with Mr. Satyananda, a  Krishna loyalist contending that the entire responsibility for Mandya was given to Mr. Ambareesh and "we had only a limited role." The rebel star's supporters say it was a collective responsibility.
