Rumoured to have been lovers once upon a time, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s paths are set to cross yet again, but this time at the box office. Shahid’s Haider and PC’s Mary Kom are slated for release on October 2 this year.
“Even though they never acknowledged it publicly, there were strong rumours about them being a couple. They last shared screen space in Teri Meri Kahani and now, two years later, they are going to have a face off at the box office when their films hit the screens,” says a source.
Being a holiday, October 2 is a much-coveted date for filmmakers and quite a bunch of films have been eyeing that slot. Both Bang Bang and Phantom, that star Katrina Kaif, had plans of arriving on October 2, but then Phantom was postponed to November while the Hrithik Roshan-starrer Bang Bang has stuck to the date.
The source continues, “It remains to be seen how many films ultimately arrive on that date, besides Mary Kom and Haider, which are certain. For both Shahid and Priyanka these are important films. Both have been cast in the title role, in their respective films. Vishal Bhardwaj has based Shahid’s role in Haider on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet while Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film is a biopic on Olympic boxing champion Mary Kom.”
Sounds like this one’s going to be quite a fight in the ring.
