Disaster tag for heat wave under consideration: Centre

Hyderabad: The Centre on Thursday told the AP High Court that the matter of declaring “Heat Wave” a disaster, under the provisions of Disaster Management Act-2005, is under consideration.

A division bench was hearing a contempt case  alleging that the Centre had failed to consider the representation despite the court’s orders to do so within three months and pass appropriate orders. The Centre  said AP and several other states have sought similar relief and the matter is under examination. The hearing was adjourned after summer vacation.
