Hyderabad: The TRS got a filmy touch with actor Babu Mohan joining the party on Wednesday. The party welcomed other high profile figures, Congress Malkajgiri MLA Akula Rajender, educationist  P. Rajeshwar Reddy, Warangal T-JAC leader  Seetharam Naik, and Banda Narender Reddy.

Unlike the BJP, Congress and TDP, the TRS has not attracted actors barring Babu Mohan, a former minister and former MLA from Andole.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, TRS president  K. Chandrasekhar Rao blamed both the Telugu Desam and Congress for the ills plaguing Telangana.

“TRS alone can change the fate of Telangana. Congress and Telugu Desam which ruled the State for 60 years are responsible for all the ills plaguing Telangana. We brought in a new State, it should have a new party. TRS will make it the No 1 state in the country,” Mr Rao declared.

He called Babu Mohan his “brother-in-law.” Babu Mohan may be pitted against former  deputy chief minister Damodar Raja Narasimha. Mr Rao asked the Warangal-based Seetharam Naik to contest either the assembly or Lok Sabha polls, and promised an MLC ticket to Mr Banda Narender Reddy.

He said he was busy scanning surveys and selecting candidates and gearing up the party for the polls.

Meanwhile, the TRS election committee met at Dr K. Keshava Rao’s residence and discussed the selection of candidates. Later, Mr Rao took over the talks. It is learnt that he cleared  half of the Assembly seats.
