Queen, Gulaab Gang trample Siyapaa

The clash between three films — Gulaab Gang, Queen and Total Siyapaa wasn’t supposed to be an ideal scenario. The opening was bound to be shaky and only a really strong player would have trumped.

Both Queen and Gulaab Gang, were close competitors, as they managed to rake in similar numbers, around rupees 9-10 crore. at the box office. Gulaab Gang had its share of audience in single screens, while Kangana Ranaut’s film did well in multiplexes. It will be interesting to see how the two continue to battle it out over the week. Kangana’s spirited act has single-handedly ensured fantastic word-of-mouth for Queen.

The third release this week, Total Siyapaa, turned out to be a big casualty. It couldn’t manage a decent start for itself. The dismal weekend collections were further hampered by poor word-of-mouth and bad reviews. The film saw only around rupees 4 crore coming in.
