Money splurge for Modi campaign

New Delhi: With Parliament session over, the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi’s IT team with headquarters at Gandhinagar in Gujarat has intensified the lotus brigade’s first ever “pan- India hi-tech campaign.”
Though there is no official figure available of the expenses to “Modify India” some top BJP lea-ders revealed that it could “easily run into a few hundred crores of  rupees, if not more.”
It was revealed that some of  the top industrialists were also contrib-uting to Mr Modi’s campaign coffer. As for the donation being collected by the party from people under “one note one vote” propaganda blitz-kreig, top functionaries claimed that “all details of fund collected would be provided to income tax and election commission at an appropriate time.”
Again, though there are no official figure available at this juncture fund collected from people could run into crores of rupees and cash is still flowing in. The party leaders believe that the in its march towards “Mission 272 +" (over 272 Lok Sabha berths) the expenses “could easily cross '500 crore.”
While the nervecentre of Mr Modi’s IT team is in Gujarat, the party volunteers have set up over 6000 offices in nearly 200 Lok Sabha constituencies. The preparation for
the Gujarat CM’s rallies, updating the social media, buying spaces in social media sites is an operation the party has never done before.
“Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s India Shining in 2004 pales in comparison,” a senior party leader said.
Mr Modi’s rallies are often updated live on Youtube by members of his IT team, sources said. A massive exercise has also been launched to create voters’ profile. Also BJP’s move to reach out to the masses has been technology driven.
The team also records details, problems, issues of each and every state, Mr Modi travels to. “Even before he lands, all the points are ready and he is de-briefed before he addresses the crowd,” a BJP leader said.
There are make up artists to put their touches on Mr Modi’s face bef-ore he addresses a rally, sources said. “He should never look tired,” a BJP leader explained.
