Vijayawada: Stating that he foresees a political vacuum in the state for years to come, APNGOs president P. Ashok Babu on Sunday predicted a hung Assembly after the 2014 polls.

Babu was speaking at a round table conference organised by the AP Journalists Forum here, where he reminded of the struggle by the APNGOs to save the unity of the state.

The APNGOs’ chief said that the Association would organise a massive dharna at the Indira Park in Hyderabad on January 22 protesting the AP State Reorganisation Bill-2013 and appealed to the people of Seemandhra districts, particularly from Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari, Kurnool and Anantapur districts to participate in large numbers. He said political parties and the people of Seemandhra should fight together to save the state.

“The APNGOs can’t fight (for united AP) in the Assembly. The political parties and the people have to fight against division of the state,” he Babu said.

Babu said the people of Seemandhra should follow a “Tit for Tat” policy to save the unity of AP, “since the Gandhian type of fight has not yielded results.”

He said the Central government was not yielding before the peaceful agitation of Seemandhra people and stressed on the need for intensifying the agitation.

The APNGOs president said the political parties should shed clarity on what they plan to do with the T Bill in the Assembly.

“While MLAs of Seemandhra are firm in on saving unity of AP, some MPs and Union ministers have cheated the people with false statements,” he said.

Babu underlined the need for resuming the Samaikyandhra agitation and stall all Central government services in Seemandhra districts to press the Centre to withdraw its decision to divide the state.
