Hyderabad: The approach of some Seemandhra MLAs during the debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill is leaving other legislators from the region wondering if the debate would serve the purpose of keeping the state united.

Several ministers and senior members have been taking objection to the generalised speeches of the participants who are more intent on attacking rival parties than the clauses of the Bill.

“The communiqué from the President to the Assembly is very clear that members have to express their views clause wise and the views also have to be communicated to the Centre clause wise,”?said a senior minister from coastal districts.

Sources said the Assembly Secretariat was clueless on how to draw clause wise conclusions from the speeches. For instance, in his lengthy speech, legislative affairs minister S. Sailajanath countered the TRS on various issues but did not refer to any clause in the Bill.

On the other hand, Telangana-TD MLA Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, largely targeted the Congress and the YSRC, but read out the clauses to which his party has moved amendments.

Earlier, Chandrasekhar Reddy took a swipe at Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy stating that “no more balls would be bowled as the match was already over.. only the presentation of awards is left,”?he said.

The TD member also attacked YSRC chief Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy over the graft cases. “Even a small pickpocket is ashamed of his imprisonment and tries to cover his face,” he said. CPM member J. Ranga Reddy criticised the Centre for its “wrong handling” of the division issue.
