MLAs averse to Telangana debate
Congressmen vow to stall House while Telugu Desam and YSRC?want resolution.
Rajahmundry: Legislators belonging to Seemandhra are not likely to take up any debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill-2013 in the Assembly, which would resume session on Friday.
The Congress legislators are firm on stalling the house while the TD and YSR Congress want a resolution to be passed to keep the state united.
Seemandhra legislators of the ruling Congress are making all out efforts to ensure that no debate takes place on T-Bill and stall the house till January 23, the deadline set by the President to express its views.
The state government may seek extension of the deadline to debate the bill in the Assembly only to delay the exercise until the Parliament is convened for a vote on account in the budget session followed by the Election Commission issuing a notification for conducting general elections in the country.
However, in case, the Congress strategy fails and the Assembly takes up debate on the bill, the legislators from the major parties intend to express their views on the bill.
Rampachodavaram MLA K.K. Viswanath, of the Congress, feels the more the bill is delayed in the Assembly, the less time the Parliament will have to discuss it.
“I will raise issues related to water sharing, generation of employment opportunities for Andhra students and about the rights of the settlers from Seemandhra in Hyderabad, in case of division of the state, said P. Gannavaram MLA P. Rajeswari Devi, of the Congress.
