Emergency angioplasty for Rishi Raj

Kochi: Transport Commissioner Rishiraj Singh underwent an emergency angioplasty at Carithas Hospital, Kottayam, on Sunday.

Singh experienced chest pain due to a major block in his right coronary artery after attending the marathon in Kochi earlier in the day.

According to the hospital sources, he is stable and has been advised rest for a few days.

Rishiraj, who reached Kottayam after attending the marathon, had chest pain around 2.30 p.m. while attending a traffic adalath, and was admitted to Carithas Heart Institute, Thellakom.

He had consulted an ENT specialist in Ettumanoor for throat infection before going to attend a programme on blood donation.

When he complained of uneasiness, he was advised an ECG test, after which the doctors decided to do the angioplasty.
