Advocate rapes minor girl for 13 days, wife helps to tie up victim

Ujjain: An advocate has been arrested along with his wife on charges of raping and holding a teenager girl hostage for 13 days at their residence here, police said on Thursday. 

The 17-year-old who had gone missing since December 12 had gone to advocate Balkrishna Nagar's residence in Sampat Nagar here that day to get her caste certificate made.

Soon after the girl entered his office, the advocate downed the shutters and sexually assaulted her after which his wife Angrooabla helped her husband to tie the victim to a bed.

According to police, the advocate raped the girl for 13 days but on Wednesday when the residents heard the girl scream, cops reached the spot and freed the victim. 

The advocate and his wife have been arrested and a case has been lodged against them under various sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Meanwhile, the victim has been sent for medical examination.

Prostitution racket busted in Bangalore, five girls rescued

Bangalore: The CCB sleuths raided a massage parlour in Pulakeshinagar and rescued five girls, who were allegedly forced into prostitution on the pretext of being employed as masseuses.

Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths barged into ‘Aroma touch – unisex salon’ located near Ulsoor Lake Circle, Meanee Avenue, Tank Road, Frazer Town on December 24 and arrested five people on charges of running an illegal prostitution racket.

The suspects have been identified as S P Selvaraj (62), Meena Mahesh (32), Vinay Kumar (32), Vinod Felix (33), and Darshan T (30). Another suspect named Indrani Benjamin is said to be absconding.

The police said the suspects had rented the salon and used to run a brothel on the pretext of running a massage parlour and unisex spa. Luring girls with false promises of employing them as masseuses, the suspects used to allegedly force them to have sex with customers.

Five mobile phones and Rs 11,000 in cash were recovered from the suspects in the raid. Five girls who had allegedly been employed there against their will were also rescued by the sleuths. A case has been registered with the Pulakeshinagar police and further investigations are on.

Bangalore: Sandalwood film producer Rockline Venkatesh and his younger brother have been accused of assaulting a hospital founder and threatening to kill him in Rajajinagar police limits on Tuesday night.

The complainant is Dr Ramegowda, founder of Vagus Super Specialty Hospital, located on Malleswaram 18th cross. Police said Dr Ramegowda had reportedly borrowed a sum of Rs 1.45 crore from Rockline Venkatesh’s younger brother, Bra­hmaresh in April at an interest rate of 2.5% per month.

However, when he failed to pay the interest for the past two months, Rockline Venkatesh and his brother reportedly called Dr Ramegowda to their office on Rajkumar Road on Tuesday night; where they allegedly assaulted him and threatened to have him killed.

Deputy commissioner of police (North) Sandeep Patil told this newspaper, “Dr Ramegowda had borrowed Rs 1.45 crore from Rockline Venkatesh and Brahmaresh in April, but defaulted on the payment of the interest for the past two months.

The duo then called him to Venkatesh’s office in Rajajinagar and asked him repay the entire sum. Dr Ramegowda then reportedly asked for more time to pay the money, but claims the duo assaulted him and even made death-threats.

We are conducting a thorough inquiry into the matter, and the Rajajinagar police have registered Dr Ramegowda’s complaint.”

Sources said that Dr Ra­megowda went to Bo­wring Hospital immediately after the incident and took treatment for his alleged injuries as an outpatient on Tuesday night. The victim is also said to have submitted medical records of his treatment to the police. Meanwhile, Rockline Venkatesh re­mained unavailable for com­ment. A detailed probe is on.

Vijayawada: A distraught father committed suicide after his second girl child was born, at Kanchikacharla on Wedn-esday. Sk. Saddam Hussian, 26, who is an autorickshaw driver, was found hanging from a tree on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, Saddam attempted suicide twice in November after his wife gave birth to a second girl child two months ago, police said.

He left home on Tuesday evening and did not return till late night.
Saddam’s family members started searching for him but later thought he might have gone on a long-distance autorickshaw trip.

Saddam married Rahena of Makkapeta village, Vatsavai Mandal three years ago and has two girl children. Police has sent the body for postmortem and registered a case.

Teenager kidnapped, killed by 3 youths in UP

Kanpur: A 14-year-old son of a city-based businessman was allegedly kidnapped and killed by three youths known to him for ransom of Rs 20 lakh in Sawarupnagar area here, police said on Thursday.

The three accused - Shubham, Jitin and Meghraj - aged between 19 and 20 have been arrested by the police and body of the victim has been recovered.

According to the police, Siddharath was the son of businessman Pradip Chaudhary and was studying in class IX in DPS School, Azadnagar. He went missing on December 22 and his family members registered a complaint on December 23.

On December 24 the kidnappers demanded Rs 20 lakh ransom, police said. Based on Siddharath's mobile surveillance, police caught the accused from the IIT campus here.

Jitin and Meghraj's fathers are fourth class employees at IIT and Shubham is a resident of Nankari area.

The accused who were known to Siddharath from last one and half years called him on Sunday and strangulated him to death. They then demanded money from his father. The victim's body has been found in a lake near the Kalyanpur area and was sent for post mortem.

New Delhi: A mega manhunt has been launched in the neighbouring states to arrest alleged gangster Vikram alias Paras, who fled from police custody with sophisticated weapons after drugging four police personnel.

Vikram decamped with four MP5 sub-machine guns and 15 live cartridges, and the policemen escorting the gangster have been placed under suspension for "negligent behaviour".

According to the police, the incident came to light yesterday at around 2 AM when a PCR call was received that a policeman was lying unconscious in parking lot of Old Delhi Railway Station. When a police team reached the spot, two more policemen were found unconscious at the platform while a fourth one was found wandering around the railway station searching Vikram in a dazed state.

The four policemen-- head constable Dinesh and constables Mir Singh, Ajay and Ramesh, belonging to the third battalion of Delhi police had taken the 27-year-old alleged gangster to Bhatinda on December 22.

He was produced in a court on December 23 there and then produced in another court in Punjab on December 24. The policemen along with Vikram then left for Delhi by train at 2 PM on Tuesday from Bhatinda.

According to a senior police official of the third battalion, who spoke to the four policemen after they came out of the drug influence, said "they claimed that they had bought two bottles of juice and some mixture from Bhatinda which they consumed when the train reached Rohtak.

"After which they fell unconscious and do not remember anything. They have been suspended for negligent behaviour and further investigations are on."

A mega manhunt has been launched to nab Vikram with several teams of the Crime Branch and Special Cell of the Delhi Police are in the look out for him. The teams are raiding his suspected hideouts in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and other neighbouring states.

As per a top source, who is a close to the investigation of the case, "It seems that Vikram fled from somewhere between Rohtak and Delhi. He probably would not have waited for the train to reach Delhi. The sequence of events is still not clear because what happened after the guards felt unconscious cannot be corroborated."

Kotdwar (Uttarakhand): The principal and an assistant teacher of a government school in Pauri district were arrested and sent to jail on Thursday for allegedly molesting a woman teacher and sending her obscene SMSes, police said.

School principal Rajendra Kumar Ahirwal and assistant teacher Yashpal of Yamkeshwar Government High School were arrested, following a complaint by the woman teacher.

The action against the duo was taken after a preliminary investigation by a police sub-inspector prima facie found them guilty of the crime, police sources said.

Coimbatore: A 24-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for cheating two elderly women after taking their gold jewellery by promising to get them old age pension.

According to the Saravanampatty police, a few days back, Babu (24), a resident of Sungam in Ramanathapuram, approached the two elderly woman - Chinnammal (55) of Maniyaka­ran­pal­ayam and Amar­avathy (45) of Chin­na­­vedampatty - and promised to get them old age pension.

Babu had demanded a bribe from the two elderly women and said the officials would sanction the old age pension amount only if they grease their palm.

Believing his words, the two women gave their gold chain, each weighing 1.5 sovereigns, to the youth. But after taking the gold chain from the two gullible women, he fled.

Chennai: The gang led by a BBA graduate working in a private insurance firm which kidnapped a private engineering college student on Monday morning had initially planned to kidnap her father for a ransom of Rs 2 crore. The idea of abduction and ransom popped into his head when he failed to pay the EMI for a car he purchased for Rs 7 lakh.

Palanichami, the mastermind of the kidnap, had been noticing that Prabhu, a contractor and father of Priya, the girl who was abducted, was a very valued customer at a private bank branch in T. Nagar.

He approached Prabhu for an insurance policy. The contractor had invited him home to finalise the terms. “Palanichami liked the idea because it suited his plan.

But at the residence of Prabhu, Palani noticed Priya and he changed his plan and decided to abduct her,” the police said on Wednesday.

But after abducting her on Monday morning in a car from near her Sastri Nagar residence when she was waiting for her college bus, the gang became confused by Monday night when the girl started collapsing every few minutes.

“She refused to take food and the gang members were assaulting her. When she started becoming unconscious at regular intervals, Palanichami got worried and informed about it to Prabhu.

He also reduced the ransom amount to Rs 50 lakh. The contractor, acting on police advice, told the gang that she was suffering from a peculiar syndrome and that she was taking a particular pill which is not available in the city.

Prabhu promised to deliver the pill in Ramavaram. When the gang came to collect it, the police nabbed them early Tuesday morning.

Other arrested were identified as Rajamani, Lognathan and Murugan, all painters, who were roped in by Palanichami promising easy money.

Bangalore: The Devanahalli police have solved the murder of a woman that happened a year ago, by arresting her husband, who was absconding in Saudi Arabia after the incident.

The accused has been identified as Tuhin Malik alias Raju (42), a native of West Bengal. He has been accused of murdering his wife Lakki Begum (22) at Shantinagar near Devanahalli on December 14, 2012.

According to the police, Malik, a construction worker, was married to a woman in Kolkata. When he came to the state a few years ago in search of job, he came in contact with Begum in Mysore and they fell in love. They got married and settled in Shantinagar about six months before she got murdered.

“As Malik was not going to work regularly, reportedly upset Begum had st­arted working in a garme­nt factory. Meanwhile, she fell in love with an­other man and told Malik that she wanted to le­ave him. The couple quarrelled over the matter and in a fit of rage, he strangled her to death,” the police said.

“After the murder, he managed to go to Saudi Arabia. One month back, he returned to Pune. We had information about this, but could not found him there. Recently, he came to Bagepalli to meet a friend and was arrested, based on a tip off,” the police added.

“He confessed to the murder and revealed that he was also arrested by Riyadh police and was deported to India. We are investigating why he was arrested and whether he used a fake passport to go to Saudi Arabia,” the police said.

Chennai: Two persons were arrested at the airport here for allegedly attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs30 lakh from Sri Lanka today.

Customs officials arrested the two hailing from TN after a check-up revealed they had concealed the precious metal in their body.

A total of 900 gms of gold was recovered from the two passengers, who arrived from Colombo, official sources said. In another incident, two Nepali women were held by the immigration officials for allegedly possessing fake passports.

Karimnagar: Unidentified persons decamped with gold jewellery weighing 1.34 kilogram worth over Rs 40 lakh and Rs 2.84 lakh cash from the primary   agriculture cooperative society (PACS) in Dharmapuri late on   Tuesday night.

Police suspect the role of bank’s staff. According to Dharmapuri police, unidentified persons took away gold and cash from two lockers with the keys found   inside an iron safe between 3-4 am on Wednesday.

The burglars gained into the three-room bank by breaking open the shutters. An employee of th bank, who noticed the broken shutters while passing by, alerted the police.

“We suspect the role of members of staff. Generally, thieves break open the lockers in order to commit   offense. But the locks were simply cut using a small instrument. Professional burglars focus on gold.

The miscreants decamped with the   gold jewellery and cash as if they were already aware of the the presence of cash,” said Dharmapuri Inspector S. Mahendar.
Moreover, the keys of lockers are generally should not be in the bank after bank hours.

Jewellery mortgaged by 26 members of the society was stolen. While chief executive officer of the bank was   on leave, assistant CEO Suresh verified lockers when computer operator   Rajendar locked the bank on Tuesday evening.

Police pressed into service sniffer dogs and CLUEs team as part of   investigations. “We have collected finger prints of the staff members. The prints were sent for forensic lab to compare with the prints   collected at the scene of offense,” said Mahender.

Sniffer dogs moved   towards government junior college, R&B guest house and Narsaiahpalle road.

Bangalore:  Srinivas Murthy, alias tempo Seena, a member of Madanayakanahalli Gram Panchayat, was arrested by Madanayakanahalli police for allegedly misbehaving with a woman. A complaint has been lodged by Nethravathi, a resident of Madanayakanahalli and garment worker, accusing Murthy of misbehaving with her, said the police.

According to the police, Nethravathi, wife of Kumar, had approached Murthy over a family dispute. Kumar, allegedly, sought sexual favours from Nethravathi. When she refused, he allegedly misbehaved with her, said the complaint. Nethravathi was waylaid by Murthy, while returning home on Saturday and allegedly misbehaved with her.

Madanayakanahalli police have registered the case under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC and are further investigating.

Tiruvanur: Four police personnel, including the inspector of Thiruthuraipoondi police station, have now been placed under suspension following the death of a 34-year-old driver, Sundar, in police custody on Tuesday.

Inspector Rajagopal of Thiruthuraipoondi police station, special sub-iInspector Elango­van and head constables Natarajan and Ramesh, all attached to the Alivalam police station, were placed under suspension on the orders of Thanjavur range DIG of police (in-charge) A. Amalraj, sources said.

Sundar (34) of Nangali village, taken into custody by the police for interrogation in connection with the theft of a tractor, died within hours of being arrested at the Thiruth­urai­poondi police station.

Sundar's relatives alleged that he was beaten to death by the cops under the guise of interrogation while the police claimed that Sundar suffered epileptic fits, perhaps in shock, at 4 am and was rushed to Tiruvarur Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Sundar's body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem was conducted at the government hospital in Thiruthuraipoondi.

On being informed, DIG Amalraj and SP Kaliraj Maheshkumar rushed to the spot and con­ducted an enquiry. Thir­uthuraipoondi jud­icial magistrate Siva also visited the hospital and held an enquiry.Meanwhile, DIG of police Amalraj ordered the suspension of the four police personnel.

Bangalore: The Cottonpet police have arrested six people in connection with the murder of rowdy sheeter Jeevanand alias Jeevan (28), who was hacked to death in broad daylight on December 21 behind the police station on 4th cross, Old Pension Mohalla. Lethal weapons including five machetes have also been seized from them.

The suspects have been identified as Imran Khan alias Machi (30), Sheikh Afroz alias Piya (26), Tabrez Khan alias Tabu (22), and Tanveer Ahmed (26) from Old Pension Mohalla, Cottonpet; Yaseer Arafath alias Yaseer (22) from J P Nagar 6th phase and Yasin Sheikh (27) from Bannerghatta Road.

Police said old rivalry and revenge were the main motives behind the murder. In 2012, rowdy Naveen Kumar alias Surya alias Appu and his associates allegedly murdered another rowdy sheeter named Gupendra alias Guppu on Mysore Road.
 
Jeevananand was among those convicted for the murder. However, he and a few others had reportedly just been released from Parappana Agrahara on December 4. In a bid to take revenge for Gupendra’s death, his associates allegedly hatched a plan to kill those involved in the murder.

Around 5.20 pm on Saturday afternoon, Jeevan was reportedly walking towards Masjid E Noorul Huda to meet his friends, when he was waylaid by six men brandishing lethal weapons.

Realising his life was in danger, Jeevan ran into a crowded lane where he is said to have slipped and hit his head on a brick, causing him to suffer severe injuries. His assailants attacked him repeatedly, causing him to die on the spot. 

The police also said seven other members of the rival gang were absconding. Investigations are being conducted by the police.

Bangalore: The CCB sleuths have nabbed two couples engaged in pick-pocketing at crowded buses in the city and have recovered gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs 16.2 lakh.

The suspects have been identified as C M Shivakumar alias Kumar (28) and his wife Shantamma (35); Venkatesh alias Raju (26) and his wife Shashikala alias Shashi (24).

The gang hails from Bilagumba post, Ramanagara district. Their modus operandi was to come to Bangalore, board a crowded bus, pilfer purses, gold ornaments, and mobile phones from commuters.

In the course of their investigation, the sleuths also recovered approximately 540 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 16.2 lakh from the suspects. With their arrests, a total of 8 cases have been solved in Upparpet, Yelahanka, Subramanyanagar, Kengeri, Rajajinagar, and Ramanagara police limits.

Kurichedu (Prakasam): A woman torched herself to death allegedly after another woman suspected an affair between her husband and the victim at Potlapadu village in Kurichedu mandal on Wednesday.

According to information, the deceased Anjamma, 22, is married to one Mekala Balaiah and they have two children Manisha, 8, and Manikanta, 2. Balaiah is a construction worker and he went to work in Hyderabad about three months back.

In this backdrop a youth living in a nearby house knocked the door of Anjamma in an inebriated condition late on Tuesday night and neighbours sent him away after reprimanding him for his behaviour.

Wife of the youth locked horns with Anjamma on Wednesday morning when she found her husband heading towards her house. The woman suspected an affair between them much to the shock of Anjamma.

Unable to bear the insult, Anjamma set afire to her self after dousing with kerosene, She sent away her mother-in-law and children to buy some groceries and took the extreme step.

The incident came to light when her mother-in- law returned as most of those living in the neighbourhood farm hands and went for work in the morning.

The youth and his wife, who were responsible for the death, disappeared and locals found the house locked.
