Vijayawada/Guntur: Krishna district joint collector P. Usha Kumari on Sunday called up on the people to register as voters as a social responsibility. She was speaking before flagging off a voters’ registration awareness rally at Swarajya Maidan, where she said that everyone should realise the importance of a vote in a democracy.

People who complete 18 years of age should register as voters, she said, adding that the election commission will register their names before December 17.

“The voter ID card is truly a multi-purpose card. People can also register their names online and as well as in polling booths,” Kumari said. Sub-collector D. Hari Chandana and several officials were present.

Meanwhile in Guntur, joint-collector Vivek Yadav asked all those who reached 18 years of age to register themselves in the voters’ list. Distributing form 6 at his camp office, Yadav asked the voters to avail the opportunity. He later visited various polls centres in the city.
