Hyderabad: The Osmania University campus was on the boil again over the Telangana issue. The City Police on Monday foiled the attempt by the students of Osmania University to take out a rally to Raj Bhavan.

The OU students are demanding the introduction of Telangana Bill in Parliament with amendments giving absolute control of law and order to the Telangana Government.

However, the security personnel, who were present in large numbers, stopped the students at the NCC gate.

They raised slogans against the anti-Telangana forces and entered into a heated argument with the police officials.

A few students were also taken into custody when they tried to break the security cordon.

Following stone pelting by some students, the police lobbed teargas shells on them. The students also set on afire a few tyres and tree trunks in the campus.

Meanwhile, the Panjagutta Police arrested a few students who tried to hold protest before Raj Bhavan.
