Visakhapatnam: Its mid-December but temperatures have already begun to dip in Visakhapatnam district, particularly in Agency areas.

The frigid weather has been causing trouble to tribals in the hamlets on hill stations but visitors from other places have been thronging Araku, Chintapalli and Lambasingi to enjoy the cool clime.

On Saturday, Chinta-palli recorded 7 degree Celsius in the small hours, according to the regional agriculture research centre officials. Lambasingi, where there is no specific equipment to record temperature, is said to have experienced much lower temperature than Chintapalli.

Normally, temperature would be between 9 and 10 degree Celsius at this time of the month. Officials said the temperature is likely to drop further by January, next year.

On January 19, this year, the lowest temperature plummeted to 4 degree Celsius. In Chintapalli, the temperature was at 7 degree Celsius on December 20, 2012 and 3 degree Celsius on December 26, 2011, according to available data.

Lambasingi is located more than 3,600 mt above sea level on the Chintapalli ghat road. So, the temperatures are likely to decrease drastically in the coming days.
